High Wind & Blizzard Conditions Sunday

A Blizzard Warning has been issued for areas in orange and a High Wind Warning has been issued elsewhere across the lower Peninsula. This will be a 24 hour period from 7AM Sunday until 7AM Monday of exceptionally high winds.

Sustained winds of 30 to 40 MPH with gusts of 55 to at times 65 MPH will be possible, with the worst Sunday afternoon and evening. Outdoor objects not tied down or brought inside will blow around, along with downed tree limbs and power lines likely.


Forecast Wind Gusts Sunday afternoon & Evening

In addition to the wind, lake effect snow will pick up on Sunday afternoon, mainly west of US-127. The heaviest snow will occur north of Grand Rapids and west of Mount Pleasant, where more than 5 inches may occur. This, snow in combination with 55+ MPH wind gusts will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous to impossible. Even in areas where only an inch or two of snow falls, reduced visibilities are likely with widespread high winds. Here are forecast snow totals from Sunday through Sunday night:
